Once they’ve they’ve stepped down from their seat, it’s always interesting to see what former politicians choose to do.  And to date, I have to admit to being somewhat surprised by former Governor Cayetano.  He has joined forces with rail opponents, and though still a far cry from being a fiscal conservative (or any kind of conservative), it’s still interesting to hear his thoughts on current issues and even his (albeit tepid) criticism of state spending and praise of former Governor Lingle.  If only I didn’t have the nagging feeling that things must be bad indeed when the liberals of a decade ago are starting to see our point. . .
